Where is the long weekend going? It’s FLYING by way too fast! So much to accomplish this weekend, so little time left…
We did get this done yesterday:

And the outside lights are done too, along with the wreath and lighted door swag. Wahooo for the 68 degree weather in which to hang outdoor decorations – Mother Nature if you could do that again on January 2 I’d be ever so grateful!
We attempted to hit up Kohl’s at about 11:00 AM thinking some of the crowds would be gone (ha!! not so much!) Getting in and around was the easy part. But once we saw the LINES for the checkout … LITERALLY WRAPPED AROUND the inside of the store … I told MSP there was no amount of money we could save that would make it worth standing in THAT line for the next hour or more. Someone else can get 50% off the $10 Barbie, thank you very much.
Apparently I am more motivated by FREE TIME than I am by MONEY!
In which case, let’s go waste some at Starbucks:
I was craving some green other than money so post-workout I had a big green smoothie:
And for dinner a big green salad:

Salad ‘fixins’ included spinach, dulse, yellow corn, nutritional yeast, one cooked egg, tomato, chia seeds, a drizzle of Annie’s Goddess dressing, and half an avocado.
I also attempted taking Rascal out with me for a run but (much like the Kohl’s visit) I turned around shortly into it because he was all over the place and messing with my running mojo! He got a short 1.5 miles – then I went back out to finish an additional 2.5 miles ALONE (and in a nice, neat straight line). Riley was NONE too happy to be left home – but knowing her, she’ll cause us to end up at the emergency vet and that would put a serious dent into my already limited xmas shopping budget. Her exercise will have to be limited to chasing her ball around the back yard until she can find a way to pay for her own healthcare!
Have a SUPER Saturday! I’m considering another Kohl’s attempt… if I don’t put up a new blog post for the next 3 days you’ll know I’m stuck in the neverending checkout line!

LOVE your beatuiful tree! and GREENS….I am SO craving them. I am contemplating getting to my fav juice bar bc I don’t have the produce to make what I want!
I am so ready to get back to normal life after FOOD!
I and I have never been Black Friday shopping. Seems INSANE to me. I HATE crowds…they frustrate me!
I am actually trying to figure out how to make Christmas memorable without all the gifts!

Hi Cindy!
I found a great gift idea that I made for my mom last year, and I had such a fun time doing it. It was a Memory Jar. I carried around a little notebook and started thinking back through all our memories of my life w/ my mom. I jotted them down whenever they came to mind. Then at xmastime, I typed them into Word, printed them onto sparkly red and green paper, cut each memory into its own strip of paper, rolled them tightly and tied with a gold ribbon. Place them all in a decorative jar.
Each day she could pull out a new “scroll” and read a memory that I’d written down for her. It was as much a gift to me as it was to her!
Love your idea of reducing/eliminating gifts!

I hear ya on staying away from the crowds just to save a few bucks. I value my time, too. I suppose if I had my Kindle2 while in line, that wouldn’t be so bad, but if you’re with someone else, that would be a little anti-social – lol.
Yay for your green smoothie! Yum. I’m drinking mine right now (arugula, apple, date, hemp protein powder).
Cheers,
Kristen

Hi Kristen! Thanks so much for commenting on my blog – glad to have you joining in our little FitFeat community!
I am a HUGE Kindle fan – love that gadget! It was one of the best gifts I ever received. If you have an iPhone you can get a free Kindle app that allows you to use your iPhone as your Kindle when you are out and about. It’s AWESOME!
I haven’t tried arugula yet in my green smoothies – your combo sounds yummy!
Have a great day and thanks again for commenting!

Hello Shari, glad to hear you had a good Thanksgiving. My mom and up woke up at 3am on Black Friday. She waited online at Target while I went to Old Navy. After Target we went to Kohls. We get online right away and take turns shopping and standing in line. I think we went to about 10 stores before we were done around 11am. I love Black Friday shopping with my mom

It was a real twofer for us…2 dinners over 2 days at 2 families. Wonderful time at both, but there’s no way I can eat so little with so much spread before me! amazingly I didn’t stuff myself and had lots of nummy salads, potatoes sweet and red, vegies and desserts. mmmmm! looking forward to a ditto at Christmas!
I don’t weigh myself so no idea if I’m up or down but there will be a big hilly walk in our day today.
