I wash everything, even bottles (like oil etc) from the store (I'm such a germophobe I've convinced myself the guy who stocked the shelves washes his hands as well as most guys do) Ick!! The only bagged vegies I buy are the tiny carrots which I rinse, else they have a bad taste to me! I don't buy bagged greens for the very bacterial reason you stated plus they just cost more. I love my salad spinner and use it regularly! Yams are definately shaped differently, more pointy and redder skinned. I like sweet pots better, with creamy color skins.
