Hi friends!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Mother Nature is giving us plenty of green to look at this week for the holiday! We’re having a little burst of spring! It was over 60 degrees out and we get two more days of this! Wahoo!
So you know what that meant for yesterday’s exercise right? OUTDOOR RUN! 4.88 miles. It was glorious. Then in the evening before dinner we took the dogs out for a walk which came to about 2.7 miles. If Riley didn’t need to stop THREE times for No. 2 every time we walk her we’d be able to get more mileage in! (I’m promise I’m not exaggerating about that!) Between Rascal’s one stop and Riley’s three stops, not only do we use a lot of pick-up bags (biodegradable, of course!) but it takes forever to complete a loop of less than 3 miles.
This is why I stopped running with them!
The best part of walking them is this:

Love it when they are tuckered out in the house and CALM!
So in honor of the GREEN holiday, I challenge you to drink a GREEN SMOOTHIE today in addition to wearing green (or I might have to pinch you!)

If you need a recipe, check out the Build-A-Meal tab to pick one and get started!
I am adding Sweet Clover sprouts to my smoothies (and wraps) this week, since they had them at the store, which is a fun change from my usual alfalfa sprouts and quite fitting for St. Patty’s Day!

What is your favorite GREEN food to add to smoothies or sandwiches? I think mine is probably avocado. I get pretty excited when I slice open an avocado and it is perfectly green with no brown spots. I love it smeared on things (in place of mayo or butter), I love it chopped and added into a salad, and I especially LOVE the creamy texture that avocado adds to my green smoothies!
Off to get the crazy day of the week started! Wednesdays are bananas!
Have a FUN & SAFE St. Patty’s Day everyone! Let me know if you had a green smoothie today!

I’ve never added avocado to a smoothie before! It sounds delicious, but I haven’t tried it yet. My favorite smoothie greens are spinach & kale. Mmmm!

I have been drinking my smoothies (green) after my runs to cut back on some higher gi foods but that post run Green Smoothie hits the spot. I had one yesterday…even at work! (woo hoo for magic bullets)
I am guessing that (of course) avocados…are A+ in my book but also spinach.
I chuck in smoothies, I add it to my salads and I steam it with my eggs or whatnot.
I’ll let you know what green foods I eat today (or drink…wink wink) and I have a perfect new bracelet to wear today with my green stuff.
no pinching for me!
and 60 degrees for you! AWESOME. FINALLY, no?

Love avo too but never had it in a smoothie so I can’t claim that…
it would have to be your idea of a cucumber in the smoothie…but I only have one left and I have to save it for a girls day out salad on friday…boohoo.
I’ll have to put lettuce and celery and kale in mine today! And of course blueberries from last years bush which will make it purply-green. That’s ok, I’m usually alittle off color…
Thanks for reminding me to find something green from the closet too! It’s a great day…hubbys bday!! And the sun is shining…woohoo!

I’m with you, AVOCADO is my favorite green food!! And in honor of St. Patty’s Day I will make sure my post-bike ride smoothie is extra green!
I saw a recipe for the banana ‘ice-cream’ that had avocado in it to make it creamier… haven’t tried it yet but it sure looked good!!
I’m so glad you guys are getting some beautiful weather too!!
Have a great day!!
