Hi friends!
Just wanted to drop in and say HAPPY SATURDAY!! I hope that you are having a fabulous day! Mine has been! 15 sets of sprint intervals this morning (in my VFFs), followed by some yoga. Bueno! I’m trying to learn to do the crow pose and not be scared of falling on my noggin.
I did it twice but very briefly – now I just need to learn how to stay IN the pose!
We also got two workouts in yesterday as well (lower body in the morning and 80 minutes of hills at night)…. I must be making up for lost time this week since I missed two days and then Thursday’s was a bit on the weak side. Day 18 and Day 19 are posted now for Spring Slimdown – almost done now! Good thing too, because I’m running out of room in the dropdown under that tab. So I might have to figure out someplace else to keep those pages on the blog.
Last night I pulled out the last two Summoning Summer Crab Cakes from the freezer and made little sandwiches out of them, with some steamed asparagus on the side. What an awesome dinner! You have to try these salmon cakes — I will definitely be making another batch to have in the freezer because it was great to have them to make a fast meal in a pinch.

Well we are getting ready to settle in for the evening – we rented “The Blind Side” (and I think we are the last two people in the country to see it!) I’m sure I’ll need a box of tissues, right?
See you next time!
– Shari B. =)

Hi Cindy!
I have to admit I missed about 20 minutes of the movie because I fell asleep on the couch. But yes, it was a GOOD movie. I didn’t cry or anything — I think there was SO much hype about this one, that my expectations might have been TOO high – but I definitely enjoyed it. Worth renting for sure!

We haven’t seen it either, and just yesterday someone mentioned having just seen it and how good it was. Reminded me to get it…
Speaking of crow pose…what’s your favorite yoga dvd? One with lots of good poses with all over bodywork options? Is there such a thing? I see them for this speciality or that (ie:gardeners yoga) but I think I’d just like a good basic that works upper and lower. There’s so many…where to begin to make a choice. I’m not doing well with the tai chi this year.

Hi Joan! I’ve probably tried only about 5 or 6 yoga DVDs ever. It used to be that the only yoga I liked was Bikram in a heated yoga studio, so I never used DVDs. Then this past summer something changed and I started to really like yoga! But because I try to fit too much into a week’s worth of exercise, I like yoga that builds strength so that I can use it in place of a weight training session. Currently my two favorites are “Iron Yoga” and “The Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga” (with Bob, not Jillian). Both have exercises where you use handweights and I feel like in addition to a good stretch I also get some strength work in.
For a great one that really STRETCHES I like Rodney Yee’s “Yoga for Athletes”.
