Good morning blog buds!
I posted this to the FitFeat FB page this morning but the mobile app thinks I was posting as a fan of the page and not as the admin, so it won’t hit your news feeds. Hopefully the WordPress mobile app I’m trying now for the first time works a little better!
I came across this article for treadmill workouts and the tips were almost identical to how I keep myself from getting bored when I have to do indoor cardio, so I thought I’d share it. Another trick I utilize is when I am watching recorded TV programs on the treadmill, I’ll walk on a high incline during the show to keep my heart rate high but then kick it up to running or sprint intervals during the commercial breaks.
Have a great Monday & a FIT week!

Hi Shari,

Yes we do have Yak Trax…and love them. They are great for the icy stuff but they pop off when we get into deep snow…I had to back track 3 blocks before I found mine the other day…it popped off a 1/2 block from home and I didn’t notice it cuz I was enjoying all the beautiful white scenery! And they are sooooo hard to get back on with tons of layers and a michelin man coat on!!

I use my treadmill a lot in the winter. Running outdoors is just not an option for me once the snow hits. I actually just moved my treadmill near the window to make it more bearable. Thanks for the tips!

Hi Heidi! Having it by the window is a great idea – at least you get to SEE some outdoors while you run!

I’ve been wanting to get mine set back up and I thought I was done running on the hampster wheel but I don’t have a good alternative yet, so thanks for the tips!

Hi Cindy – hmmm tough call. I guess it depends on how inviting your garage is!
I think I’d rather it in the house, just because I wouldn’t feel like I was in the “exercise dungeon”. But then I might see my dirty dishes in the sink and think, “geez, maybe I should be doing dishes instead of running”. Pros and cons either way!

I’ve been using the treadmill at my dad’s lately and I love it! Oh how I wish I had room for one here as I would definitely use it, like all last week when outdoor walks were dicey on the ice at best! Great tip as I can see how it could get boring (unless you have a beautiful garden to gaze at and plan whilst treading!!
)

Hi Joan! I can’t believe all the crazy weather you had in your area! It looked like Colorado! Do you have Yak Trax? I rely on mine to put on my shoes when I need to walk on snow/ice (or when I’m snowblowing and shoveling.) They are so handy for that!
