Welcome and thank you so much for reading the FitFeat blog!
Fitting fitness and healthy nutrition into an already busy life can be quite a feat (hence the blog title) but it’s well worth the investment of your time. Hopefully some of the tidbits you get from my blog will help.
I became a personal trainer in 2001, after my own struggle with weight gain (and loss and gain and loss – you know the drill.) My fitness philosophy has evolved immensely through the years as I continue to learn, apply and grow. If there is a fitness and nutrition book out there, chances are it’s sitting on my bookshelf right now! After years of trying a multitude of diets with my own body as a sort of science experiment (with and without successes), I have settled into an intuitive, natural eating pattern and fitness routine where maintaining my weight is pretty simple. And trust me, I like food. I especially like tasty treats. You will see through the course of this blog how I eat and exercise to stay fit and healthy.
I love to run, hike and lift weights. Mostly things where my feet stay firmly planted on the ground! I’m a five-time half-marathoner, a former NPC Figure Competitor, a one-time triathlete, and more. I’ve listed the events in which I have participated over the years at the bottom of this page. You’ll notice that after 2007 there are NO events! That’s because I decided to exercise for enjoyment and pure FUN, rather than because I was “in training” for something.
I am an ACE Certified Personal Trainer with a true passion for helping people implement real and healthful change into their lives.
Thanks again for reading and don’t be a stranger! Read and comment often – I look forward to hearing from you!
– Shari B. =)

I’m glad to see you’re doing well with your goals. I noticed you said you are getting the distance running itch. I Have the 2008 Reggae and 2009 Maui marathons under my belt and hope to begin training for another soon. If you’re interested in that kind of distance, let me know. I’ve learned some good tricks and safe ways to run without killing myself. Good luck!

Hi Sue! First, it’s GREAT to hear from you! And second, funny you should mention DISTANCE, because I’m training for my first full marathon.
Figured it was time to kick it up a notch! I’d LOVE any tips you are willing to share. I’ll send you an email!

Thank you Nancy!
Being someone who’s teased for my non-cooking, it’s nice to hear that my food looks good.
And I KNOW you’d like a green smoothie. Looks gross, but tastes like SUMMER!
